Breaking the Stigma Behind Mental Health w/ Kelsey George
Show Notes
As we move through 2021 and come off one of the hardest years any of us will ever face due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attention to our overall mental health and wellness could not be more prevalent. Each of us has had to deal with our own set of challenges as we navigated our way through 2020 and there is no denying the strain those challenges can have - mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

For centuries, seeking mental health labeled you as "mentally ill." But fortunately, this stigma is beginning to break and it's our mission at Makin Wellness to eliminate it for good by bringing positive mental health awareness to the forefront for all that we serve and in all that we do.

In Episode 13 of The Makin Wellness Podcast, I am pleased to welcome fellow Makin Wellness therapist Kelsey George onto the show. Together, Kelsey and I discuss how the stigma behind mental health is slowly starting to crumble and why, now more than ever, you need to be cognizant of your emotions and not feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek professional help in coping with them if you choose.

In today's conversation, you'll learn:

  • Why it's not only OK to embrace your emotions, but it's celebrated
  • The meaning behind "toxic positivity" and how to recognize it when you face it
  • How to de-stigmatize the idea of it being wrong to talk openly about your emotions
  • How to take action in dealing with your mental health
